I was almost done with a post and I blew it away. ๐ So let’s start over quickly.
I realized today that for the piece I’m writing, I’m going to end up needing up to 100k words or more. A typical Urban Fantasy such as something by Kim Harrison or Jim Butcher is anywhere from 100k to 160k words. So writing to 50k for NaNo will only get me part of the way done. I’m going to still do NaNo but it was a bit overwhelming to realize that I have much more on my hands then what NaNo is incouraging me to write.
I didn’t put much time into writing today because realizing the above made me realize I need more work on my plot. I can still free form alot of things but to really get it finished I need a better grip on outlining my plot and creating a scene list. So I hopped around the net and ended up at my favorite site for writing info, Holly Lisle’s site. Over there I found an e-book she wrote, Create a Plot Clinic. I picked it up for 9 bucks and in going over even some of it I’ve helped myself.
I also spent some time doing some research on some of the “races” in my book. Demons were on the menu for today and I found some interesting things. It will be helpful in the long run.
So tomorrow’s plan is to do a little plot work, write some words on the book, and see where I end up. ๐ Busy busy!
