Episode 31: Monster Series: WereSnakes with Stella Price / Contest

To start of my series on different types of “monsters” in urban fantasy, Stella Price – one half of SA Price came on to talk about her newest book and it’s special shifters – weresnakes. Now before you go EWWW and head off somewhere else…Stella makes a compelling arguement for her book and her shifters. Even I found myself really interested in this new type of “monster”. So give her a chance.

As a special bonus, she is giving away her 3 series novella in e-book form to a lucky TaleChasing commenter. All you have to do is leave a comment to be entered into the contest to win this series. NOTE: This series is very erotic and for adults. Please keep that in mind when you enter.

And now…WereSnakes!

Weresnakes are awesome. Think of the sexual possibilities there. They have no joints, no bones, nothing is impossible. And, if they were midshift with half snake and half person…the possibilities are even more endless. It just sounds like a fun read.

  2. Okay, you had me at very erotic! But seriously, I think weresnakes are a cool concept. Better than those hairy things with the big claws. Snakes are slithery and sneaky. They should be magical!

  3. Erotic content involving weresnakes? Can’t wait to see how this is done!

  4. Never heard of a weresnake shifter novel. But you've won me over.. Even added your widget on my blog sidebar.

Weresnakes do sound like an interesting idea. Reminds me of Keats’ “Lamia”. Well, probably the first thing to come to one’s mind when you connect girls and snakes (up at around their middle?). Or the Lair of the White Worm? Can’t remember many male snake-human-hybrids in Literature…hmm. Anyway, sounds great ๐Ÿ˜‰

To all those who claim that nearly every piece of fiction of the past century owes itself to Tolkien, nocomment I dare you to fins a weresnake in Middle-Earth!

Hmm, how does one take care of an erotic weresnake problem anyway? Flash a bit of T&A it’s way, then when it’s distracted, let loose the weremongoose you’ve been hiding?

Can’t wait to see what happens! Good job on finding a fresh idea! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I JUST got an e-reader recently and am currently reading my first book on it. I am always on the look out for more books to put on it to read so I’d love to enter this contest! Weresnake shifters sounds pretty cool!

  10. Weresnakes, I think, have been done before. Specifically, I'm thinking of the classical monsters such as Medusa (in the old Clash of the Titans, she's half-snake) and the naga (usually snakes with a human head). Although whether any of these had shapeshifting possibilities, I'm not sure.

One thing I'd be curious about regarding shapeshifting erotica is the issue of cold-bloodedness. Are weresnakes coldblooded in both forms? Warmblooded in both forms? Switch back and forth (talk about physiological trauma). Also, given the more-or-less instinctive human "ick" factor with snakes, I'd be very interested in seeing how a human would be convinced *not* to squick upon seeing their lover turn into a python.

  11. Cool. I am the seventh one to leave a comment. I really enjoyed this interview. It was interesting to hear about something other than warewolves. Ware-anything is better than warewolves. They have been done to death. At least she didn’t do Ware-rabbits like Walter and Grommit. ๐Ÿ™‚

OK color me intrigued! Weresnakes……I have to know about this one!

  13. Weresnakes? AWESOME!! Cannot wait to read that ๐Ÿ˜€ *gleeful* I love snakes and the story seems very interesting! ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. I have to ask; When a fellow shifts back to human after being a snake for awhile, does he retain his hemi-penii?

  15. OMG you guys are all so cool for listening to this little interview and commenting… Weresnakes are SSSexy…

    So anyway…

Mike Dovers: This is by far the funniest thing i have read all day. Thanks for making me smile, and no, I dont harken back to Tolkien… its just too easy to cite that as an influence.

T.C. Dale: yes they have been done before, nit no one has done them as a focus of paranormal Romance or urban fantasy. We are a one off, so far which is why we dont have that elusive NY contract for the work… because they see it as a damn huge risk…

    thanks to all the commenters!

  16. suman

tht’s bollywood staple! several mainstream and B grade(erotic?) movies have been made on shapeshifting snake women .

  17. Suman: yes, and even some a list movies, Lair of the white worm and Conan were made back in the day…

But we are the first to use Snakeshifters as a focus in romance…

Alan: LOL… Im so not answering that one…

  21. Sounds interesting! I’m probably late to the party here but wanted to say thank you for the interview and for pointing out the series. I’m particularly curious at seeing how the Naga and other snake myths are woven in. Thanks for going out on a limb with the subject. I think it’s awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚
